For those of you who are wondering whether I got my MCSE 2000 upgraded or not — well, there is one more MCSE 2003 on this planet since mid-April

Let me begin my review of various Doms available from BANDAI in 1/144 scale with this 2000/2002 version of UC High Grade MS-09F Domtropen kit, just because it is the oldest I was able to find

A little bit of history

According to MAHQ, DOM was originally designed to replace GOUF, which was supposed to replace ZAKU. MS-09 Dom first saw a real battle in UC0079 close to the end of the year. Being more of everything (weight, size and amount of weaponry carried around) Doms would have made some difference if they were deployed earlier.
This mecha made its appearance in numerous spin-offs and the original Gundam series (such as Mobile Suit Gundam and Mobile Suit Gundam: 08th MS Team (although with a slightly different design) .

What’s in the box?

We have got two kits with the 2002 version differs from the original 2000 release only in colour scheme (”desert” colours vs. some sort of “tropical” ones) and number of armaments, 2002 version also has additional thrusters under its “skirt” on the back . Everything else is absolutely the same.

Have a look at the box of 2000 version:

The completed model will consist of 122 details and only 2 stickers.

And at the 2002 version’s box too:

This model, when completed, will require 172 details and the same 2 stickers.

As you can see the difference in armaments, three thrusters and palm is what these additional 50 details are about. If you to get both versions of MS-09F Domtropen, you will get this small arsenal :):

• 4xSturm Faust (2002 version only)
• 90 mm Machine Gun (2002 version only)
• 880 mm Bazooka (both versions)
• Heat Saber (both versions)
