UC :: MS-09F Domtropen (2002 version) - Assembled
There is no point in repeating myself about this particular kit’s shortcomings as this is the exact copy of 2000 release with some additions and different colouring. By the way, the plastic was still quite fragile even though this kit was made 2 years after the other (or was it really?). Let us concentrate on what is unique about it now that you can actually see it:
First of all, the bazooka and heat saber are still there, but you have seen them already with 2000 version of Dom, so I photographed it with a machine gun and sturm fausts (connected to the back of Dom’s “skirt”, while spare ammo for the machine gun is stored on its front).
Another important point is that the colour scheme was changed to something that can actually work in a real world situation :), namely deserts and semi-desert environments. On the picture below you can see the additional three thrusters covered by “skirt”. Also, this kit sports an opened left palm (not pictured), which can be used to support either bazooka or machine gun.
Here is the Colour Guide and my translation of what you can see below, and again, if you see any mistake, feel free to comment on it and I’ll fix it straight away:
Just follow the number on a coloured square above :
- Feet, Air Intakes, and “internal” structure: Cocoa Brown (90%) + White (10%)
- Hands, Legs and Lower Torso Armor: Light Brown (100%) + a little bit of Cocoa Brown
- “Faceplate” Rim and Thrusters’ Internal Surface: Monza (?) Red (100%)
- Palms, Elbow and Knee Joints and Feet’s Parts (see picture below): Blue-Gray (80%) + White (10%) + Red (10%)
- “Skirt”, Upper Torso and Shoulder Armor; Backpack, Ammunition and Bazooka: Navy Blue (60%) + Neutral Gray (40%)
And now let us talk about what is going to require your attention. Because everything I already said about 2000 version is applicable to this kit, the numbering on the following picture starts with “7″ with the previous 6 to be found in my earlier post :):
- Number 7. Those rings that hold sturm fausts are the tricky ones. They use the same slots in the “skirt” as the spare clips for bazooka, but while you can insert any bazooka clip in pretty much any slot, the rings must be put into the right slots or else you will have a lot of troubles trying to stack the fausts neatly (see the picture below).
- Number 8. Sturm fausts and their rings are going to be a huge pain in the backside — a lot of sanding and painting (or polishing if you would prefer to leave them as they are — quite shiny, almost metallic).
- Number 9. The clip in the machine gun falls out pretty easily. Well, just glue it to the gun, right? It depends. As you can see below, the gun (when not in use) is supposed to be stored under a special clip on the back. If the clip is there, it will get in a way of sturm fausts (see the picture below). So it is entirely up to you. Oh! And there is more to it — the heat saber is incompatible with sturm fausts too — could not get both of them on my Dom at the same time.

Conclusion
This kit is definitely a better choice over its older “brother” — just because it looks more natural AND gives you an unprecedented choice of weapons. If you are after a Domtropen from UC time line, get this one!
