Giving you the review of the next kit back-to-back with Rick Dom II was an easy decision to make – after all, this one is Dom II’s predecessor that was for some reason released 2 years later.

Now, what is it about MS-09 Dom and MS-09R Rick Dom that’s written on the box? Will you find TWO kits inside? Well, not really – the bulk of 115 plastic parts in the box will build a body that is pretty much the same for both mech. Only 15 out of those are unique for MS-09 Dom and 16 for Rick Dom.
The main feature of this kit (in my opinion) is the way its head is constructed. Below you can see the picture of Dom’s “eye” clearly visible through transparent plastic.. but there is more to it – it moves horizontally and (to some extent) vertically! (upper left). Next is the picture of the head, showing the internal workings (upper right). And finally, the way it all comes together (below):

Another feature of this kit is its splendid set of four hands (upper picture). They can be used with both models. Now to the differences. The most obvious one is their bazookas. Guess who’s got that ridiculously big one? I bet you guessed it right
– it was Rick Dom (Junior
), leaving the humble one to simply Dom (picture in the middle). However, the Rick Dom does not just have a bigger bazooka- its jet pack is also slightly larger (bottom right) and its “boots” each have three additional thrusters (bottom left):

That is all about their differences. I decided to build MS-09R and thus my next post is going to be about how it looks once assembled, so keep tuned
